Regulatory Update
Municipal Affairs has published a Standata clarifying the requirement to conduct periodic inspections of dispensing equipment. In the past, some regulators required service station operators to access underground sumps weekly to meet Fire Code inspection obligations. This practice raised both logistical and safety concerns for station staff.
APSSCA’s committee of members worked with government officials to demonstrate that underground equipment is already being effectively monitored electronically. This electronic oversight more than satisfies the intent of visual inspections. Members can visit the APSSCA website to review the full Standata.
AGM Highlights
APSSCA held its Annual General Meeting in June, in conjunction with the annual golf tournament. The AGM was well attended, with guest speakers including:
- Colin Clark of Plenum Group gave a very informative presentation on the cyber risks of doing business.
- Joe Muniz, National Energy Equipment – who addressed common issues with petroleum equipment including submersible tank pumps.
- Michelle Rae, CPCA – who provided updates on POST initiatives and developments.
- We are also pleased to welcome Sean Swanney, Keller Equipment, to the APSSCA Board.
25th Annual Golf Tournament
This year marked our 25th Annual Golf Tournament—and our most successful one yet! Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and participants, we raised an outstanding $28,000 in support of Kids Cancer Care.
